i love when people say they “had a thing” with someone. were u in love? did u have sex? got slushies one time?

I want a tv show with a het non canon ship and when they are asked how they know each other they avert their eyes and say “we had a …thing” and everyone assumes they slept together or were together and The Straights will defend them to moon and back despite the girl having an epic slow burn with another chick, and then in season finale it turns out that “the thing” was running a pet shop together and it went bankrupt cause both are shit at business and that’s why they are embarrassed to talk about it
